Role Summary/Purpose

Responsible for designing, developing and testing software to create web & industrial internet products and services tailored to the needs of the GE businesses and external customers. Comprehensive in-depth understanding of complex and highly technical concepts and principles of the Web & IOT space. Leads, consults or oversees multiple architectural engagements. Leads domain specific architecture.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate the domain technical and business discussions relative to future architect direction across multiple teams or complex product line.

  • Expert level skills in Java development, with an ability to take a deep dive in the implementation aspects.

  • Analyze, design and develop a roadmap and implementation plan based upon a current vs. future state in a cohesive architecture viewpoint.

  • Review and/or analyze and develop architectural at domain level and across multiple teams.

  • Participate in the Digital Engineering business-wide and domain governance model.

  • Contribute to the development of software and data delivery platforms that are service-oriented with reusable components across teams (multiple teams) that can be orchestrated together into different methods for different businesses.

  • Lead the research and evaluation of emerging technology, industry and market trends to assist in project development and/or operational support activities to for multiple teams or complex scenarios.

  • Provide leadership, technology guidance and mentors others throughout the domain

  • Write code that meets standards and delivers desired functionality aligned with GE standards and guidelines

  • Responsible for defining, developing, and evolving software in a fast paced and agile development environment using the latest software development methods and infrastructure.


  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems (IS), Information Technology (IT), Computer Science or Engineering

  • A minimum of 8 years of technical experience along with established leadership credentials across product lines.

  • Strong Debugging and Troubleshooting Expertise

• At least 4 years experience with Java (Spring, SpringBoot)

  • 3+ years of experience with Javascript frameworks like JQuery, NodeJS, Angular

  • 3 Years of developing REST APIs

  • Experience working in an Agile software development environment

  • 3+ Years experience writing unit tests

  • Experience with NOSQL databases & Relational databases (Oracle, MySQL, etc…)

  • 1+ years of experience setting up and using a CI system to automate builds (Maven, Ant, Jenkins)

  • Knowledge with development tools and integrated build systems: Eclipse IDE, Jenkins/Hudson, Maven - Software development cycle and automated testing experience (TDD/BDD)

Desired Characteristics

  • Working knowledge in configuration management tools such as CVS/SVN/ClearCase/Git/Perforce

  • Previous experience with Cloud Foundry/PaaS

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively across functions in a matrix environment.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to diplomatically advocate for the appropriate support staffing levels. Ideal candidate will also have experience presenting effectively to non-technical and executive audiences.

  • Strong analytical skills – strong problem solving skills, communicates in a clear and succinct manner and effectively evaluates information / data to make decisions; anticipates obstacles and develops plans to resolve.

  • Resourceful and quick learner; able to efficiently seek out, learn, & apply new areas of expertise as needed.

  • Highly self-motivated, able to work independently

  • Hands on experience in developing enterprise software solutions, preferably based on Java technology stack

  • Expert-level knowledge of Servlets, JSP, JDBC, HTML/DHTML, CSS, JavaScript

  • Expert-level knowledge of Spring (MVC, Data JPA, Security, Boot, Batch), REST APIs, JSON and xml

  • Expert-level knowledge of Angular JS or other modern UI framework

  • Knowledge of Web security

  • Understand industry trends and competitive landscape and the implications for GE

  • Provides leadership, technology guidance and mentors others throughout their domain. Define the skills, competencies in the skills and talents for architecture team members.

  • Facilitates dialogues that produce new perspectives and trigger recommendations for substantial innovative / enhancements, and analysis of consequences.

  • Experience or knowledge of Predix is a plus.

  • Knowledge of AWS and Cloud computing will be an advantage.
