Role Summary/Purpose

The Solution Architect will serve as the project lead on the web and mobile development team within the larger program team and is the single point of contact for project deliverables. You will be responsible for project team planning, task assignment, execution, and communications related to software development activities in Predix platform

Essential Responsibilities

-Ensure that user stories for all features meet the Definition of Ready prior to a sprint, and that the Definition of Done is met for each story prior to closing

-Be responsible for meeting quality objectives

-Lead software development planning and execution within a project, including team meetings, team communication, story estimates, task assignment / optimization, and escalation of resource gaps

-Manage team-level quality objectives, schedules, and development risks and make decisions based on program and business objectives

-Assist team with hands-on development and testing as required and coach the team members to ensure highest quality code is delivered

-Help define team development practices, development tools, and process improvements and enforce agile behavior

-Work with cross-functional groups to coordinate design and development activities

-Manage dependencies and removes impediments for the team

-Escalate to the senior leadership to facilitate transparency

-Communication to team members on project progress and risks to on time completion


-Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Information Technology (IT), Computer Science or Engineering (or related IT degree) with a minimum 8-10 years of experience in information systems, information technology, computer science or engineering)

-Minimum of 8-10 years of software development experience, along with established cross functional and cross-discipline leadership

Desired Characteristics

-Expert software engineer with exceptionally strong coding, debugging, and design skills.

-Expert in application and enterprise architecture, with emphasis on integration of disparate systems and design patterns.

-Expert skills in the following areas: Java/J2EE, JSP, XML, Springs, servlet containers, web servers, SQL databases, integration technologies especially web services, effective application architectures and OO development, and software engineering methodologies

-Experience in Hybrid mobile application development

-Experience in Android platform development

-Experience in IOS platform development

-Experience implementing a Continuous Integration environment such as Jenkins

Experience in Robotium or similar testing platform

-Experience working with PostgreSQL and/or Time series database is preferred.

Experience with Tomcat or similar web application container configuration settings.

-Working experience in cloud environment preferred.

Experience with JavaScript, CSS & HTML (HTML5)

-Experience with JavaScript frameworks (JQuery, Angular, Polymer etc.)

Possesses problem solving and analytical skills

-Experience working in an agile software development environment

-Ability to manage customer expectations

Project management and team leadership experience

Good debugging skills with knowledge on debug tools, browser plugins etc.

-Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills
