Role Summary/Purpose

Java Developer is responsible for primarily participating in hands-on coding, analysis, application design, documentation and testing activities, in addition to designing and implementing technical standards and resolving complex system issues as needed to deliver successful software solutions and services on the GE Predix platform tailored to the needs of the Multi Year Agreements business.

Essential Responsibilities

The candidate will work closely with technical teams to solve complex business problems, implementing technical solutions that are secure, reliable, sustainable and scalable.

• Responsible for defining, developing, and evolving software in a fast paced and agile development environment using the latest software development methods and infrastructure

• Develop and implement, scalable and flexible software solutions for business and application teams migrating, transforming, and/or developing applications in GE Predix platform

• Develop high quality code adhering to standard design patterns

• Employ secure application development and coding practices

• Breakdown complex problems into sustainable, reusable solutions

• Estimate level of effort for assigned tasks, raise risk early on deliverables

• Perform peer code reviews to ensure proper coding practices are followed and to improve overall code quality

• Partner with Business Analyst, Technical Lead and QA in Agile sprints to deliver outcomes for Sprint demos

• Participate in debugging and triaging sessions with the Production Operations team as required

• Participate and contribute in technology vision, roadmaps, platforms and standards discussions

• Research development in assigned technology, and execute POCs to validate technology solutions

• Support impact assessment and decision related to technology choices, design /architectural considerations and implementation strategy

• Grow expertise across technologies, expanding cross platform effectiveness


• Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems (IS), Information Technology (IT), Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent experience

• A minimum of 4+ years of IT experience with strong technical experience in Java/Java EE technologies

• Experience in object oriented design methodology and various programming languages including Java/Java EE, Spring, MVC frameworks like Struts/Spring MVC, Rest/SOAP Services, JPA, Hibernate, iBatis etc

• Knowledge of Relational Databases, PL/SQL

• UML creation and translating them into code components

• Well versed in design patterns and its application during development

• Experience working with servers like Tomcat, JBOSS etc

• Demonstrated track record of developing challenging and innovative solutions

• Problem solving and analytical skills

• Strong Debugging and Troubleshooting Expertise

• Understanding of Java Script, Boot Strap, Angular JS, JQuery, XML/XSLT, HTML5, CSS, Database (Oracle, MySQL, NoSQL), Procedures is a plus

• Experience in utilization of configuration management tools like GitHub, Maven, Jenkins will be a plus

• Experience in working on a Test Driven (TDD) Agile Software development cycle will be a plus
