Role Summary/Purpose

The Technical Lead Liquid Fuel Development will be responsible for providing guidance for, and will take an active role in, the development of dual fuel gas turbine combustion system. He will drive technology advances to enable high operability, low emission dual fuel systems for existing and new products, a key focus of which will be dry low emissions technologies. The role will include mentoring engineering teams working across a range of products.

Essential Responsibilities

The individual will have involvement in the full life cycle of the product, including new product introduction, engine validation testing, product cost-out (PCO), and field issue resolutions for the existing fleet. He will leverage his expertise in dual fuel development to ensure that we deliver the best-in-world liquid and dual fuel combustion systems.

Specific responsibilities are:

• Provide technical guidance for the specification of liquid and dual fuel combustor development programs

• Provide technical leadership for liquid and dual fuel combustor development projects across GE Power’s sphere of responsibility

• Coach and mentor colleagues in theoretical and practical aspects of liquid-fuel combustion and development practices

• Lead the implementation of innovative designs that give GE positive differentiation to competitor offerings

• Provide technical input to the liquid-fuel development roadmap, the purpose of which is to ensure our development practices, tools and engineering talent growth enable us to develop best-in-world products

• Utilize Fast Works tools to improve current business products and processes

• Implement design process improvements for cycle-time reduction and design quality

• Concurrently work on multiple projects, monitoring progress and quality and ensuring schedule requirements are met

• Effectively communicate and provide recommendations to internal customers through the analysis, preparation and presentation of technical data

• Coordinate design activities towards achieving technical goals

• Support new product introduction design execution for all design phases: conceptual, preliminary and detailed

• Support installed fleet by addressing product cost out and root cause analysis, when needed

• Support Combustion Testing team in defining instrumentation and test matrices and in data evaluation

• Support Combustion Modelling team in defining key fundamental physical and chemical processes that should be addressed

• Document and report results to component owners and leadership

Qualifications/Requirements

• Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

• Profound experience in turbomachinery technology, covering several disciplines including cooling, combustion and mechanical design

• Profound experience in leading teams of highly qualified individuals

• In-depth knowledge of the physical and chemical processes underlying liquid fuel combustion

• First-hand experience of the development of combustion systems from the initial layout, through the development and design cycle, through to the implementation of systems into product offerings
