Role Summary/Purpose

The Lead Major Component Exchange (MCE) Field Specialist will be a US Wind Travel Technician that will be responsible for large component replacement / repair of wind turbine generators throughout the United States.

Essential Responsibilities

As the Lead Major Component Exchange (MCE) Field Specialist, you will:

  • Lead a team of MCE GE employees and third party contractors (up to 20) in a high traffic industrial construction setting

Be responsible for communicating with GE management and customers

  • Support Field Engineers as needed

  • Train and develop MCE Team on qualification standards

  • Schedule pre job meetings to discuss lift plans, LOTO (Lock Out Tag Out), schedule, weather, hazards, and jobsite / landowner requirements

  • Inspect all major components as they arrive to ensure no damage and that they are the right type or configuration for the wind turbine

  • Inventory tooling, parts and equipment / report broken or missing pieces and order replacements

  • Stage cranes, tooling, parts, and other heavy equipment accordingly to maintain an orderly job site

  • Signal and direct cranes, heavy equipment and contractors during mechanical disassembly and reassembly

  • Troubleshoot complicated mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems on variable pitch / variable speed turbines

  • Review work instructions and delegate job tasks at the morning tailboard meeting

  • Document all work performed using computer based service reporting procedures

  • Communicate site status to engineers, customers, and management

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Technical, Electrical, or Electronic field from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 2 years of work experience in an electrical or electronic repair industry

OR

  • Associate’s Degree in a Technical, Electrical, or Electronic field from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 4 years of work experience in an electrical or electronic repair industry

OR

  • High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 6 years of work experience in an electrical or electronic repair industry

  • Minimum of 2 year of wind turbine experience

  • Minimum of 2 year of experience as a Wind Technician

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Ability and willingness to travel, as required

  • Ability to meet specific OSHA weight limits of 250 to 300lbs max

  • Ability and willingness to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license
